Grab a cappuccino, an iced latte, a regular ole cup of joe—or whatever your pleasure may be. We invite you in to relax and rejuvenate. This site is our gift with the hope that viewing these images of God’s magnificent creation will allow “nature’s peace to flow into you” and your cares to “drop off like autumn leaves“ (John Muir) even if only for a few minutes of time. A few minutes may be just enough to renew and invigorate.
The stress of our anxiety filled lives requires a counterpoint. Research has shown that nature can be that contrasting element. Rigorous experiments demonstrate that nature heals, soothes and restores. And while being IN nature is the best, even viewing scenes of nature reduce anger, fear and stress. Not only does Nature improve our moods and psychological wellbeing it also creates a sense of meaningfulness and vitality. Perhaps that was God’s intent with the majesty of creation. Our calmness comes from gratitude to Him for all the beauty he has given us.
So prop your feet up, enjoy your latte and immerse yourself in nature.
Well, its NOT Chinese ice cream as some have thought.
Picture a couple sitting on the deck of a fly-fishing lodge. They’ve come to fish and do some life planning about their business. As they sit reflecting on the great day of fishing, a question is asked:
“What do you think about when you’re fishing?”
(Of course you know who asked this—had to be the wife, right?)
Husband: “Nothing, I just enjoy the experience of fishing. What about you?”
Wife: “Well, I think about the wind, the way the water ripples, what we are going to do tonight, what time we will leave tomorrow, what we have to do when we get home, etc., etc.”. (AHHH, how quickly she moves from beautiful environment to the “to do list”.)
Husband, “You aren’t very ‘in the moment’ when you fish, are you?”
Wife: “No, I guess I’m not.”
Husband: “You miss out on so much when you don’t stay in the moment. The warmth of the sun reflecting off the water, the smell of green grass, the trees swaying in the breeze—and the FISH sneaking thru the water. There is so much to absorb in a fishing experience, how can you possibly think about anything else? (PAUSE) You know, THIS is what I would like for our business to be about, freezing life’s moments.”
And, with that, FrozenZen was born.
After years of “people” photography, from babies to families to children to weddings to high school seniors to fashion photography, FrozenZen is now transitioning to our original roots of nature and landscape photography, BUT, still with the goal of freezing life’s moments.
So what about the couple? Well, our real names are Terry and Beverly Acker, but we’ve often been simply addressed as, “There’s FrozenZen!” So what would you like to know about us? Have we had successes? Certainly! Failures? Yes! Degrees, accolades, and awards? You bet! Disappointments? Enough to make sure we enjoyed the successes. And we could tell you more, perhaps examples of the achievements and challenges in our careers before FrozenZen, but what does all that matter? If you are reading this in search of our credibility, then look to the images, they speak for themselves.
As to who we are, here is what we think matters: We love our God. We love each other. We love the beautiful creation our God has given us. And, there is nothing more humbling than standing under the Milky Way and photographing God’s glory.
We explore, we discover, we create, and we hope to inspire!
